Featured Books - January 31st
Week of January 31st
2nd Grade Research:
• 2nd grade is continuing their China research project. The classes have completed their research using books, online encyclopedias, and websites.
• The students are sorting through their notefact strips to determine which facts answer the essential question.
• Essential Question: How would my life be different if I lived in China?
• Students are sorting their notes into categories and creating a notefact book including a bibliography page!
1st Grade Collections:
• We thank Matt A. for bringing in his baseball card collection.
• It is currently in our display case for 2 weeks.
Lunch Bunch:
• A group of 2nd grade boys discussed Those Shoes by Noah Z. Jones
• Thank you for participating! Chris, Jacob, Sebastian, Patryk, Oscar, Dean, Fifo, and Daniel
Comic Club and Kerpoof Club:
• Canceled due to snow days.

LMC News this Week
The LMC has been a busy place!
Research:
2nd grade has begun their China Research project. The classes have been coming into the LMC 3 times per week to do the following:
• Create blogs!
• Research their topics using the internet, online encyclopedias, and books
• Post their first comments on their blogs
Kindergarten:
• Valentine's Day cards were made in the computer lab using a program called Pixie.
1st Grade:
• Students participated in a "Following Directions" activity while drawing a snowman in the computer lab using a program called Pixie.
5th Grade:
• All the 5th grade classes selected biographies to read for the upcoming Wax Museum.
Kerpoof Club:
• 4th grade students are attending an after school club where they create an animated movie.
• This group of students met for the third time.
• Next week will be their last meeting where we will show each other our movies.
Collections in the Showcase Window:
• Our 1st grade student displaying his collection this week is Erik M.
• Notice his collection of knights!
Technology:
• The LMC is now hosting a set of iPads and iPod Touches for research, skills practice, and classroom check-out.
