I just finished a great book for girls in grades 3 and 4. It's called The Dancing Pancaking by Eileen Spinelli. Eleven-year-old Belinda "Bindi" Winkler and her family find their way through tough times with the love and support of the community that grows around their newly opened restaurant, "The Dancing Pancake." It's funny, touching, serious, and a quick read. Check it out in the LMC!
I just finished reading The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. What a wonderful book and laugh-out-loud funny!!
What is it about, you ask? When Ivan, a gorilla who has lived for years in a down-and-out circus-themed mall, meets Ruby, a baby elephant that has been added to the mall, he decides that he must find her a better life.
I recommend it for boys and girls in grades 3 through 5. Enjoy!
Mrs. Likes' 2nd grade class has just finished researching animals using the PebbleGo database. They learned how to take notes using the IIM method. After collecting their information, they selected an important fact to record using PhotoBooth and drew their animal using Pixie. Check out the class movie!
2nd grade students in Mrs. Zingg's class finished their note-taking last week. The students selected an animal that they wanted to learn more about and used the PebbleGo database to gather their facts. The students are practicing their note-taking skills using the IIM Method in preparation for their larger research project in late January.
Once their notes were complete, the students selected one important fact to share with the class. Check out their video...
